What Is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy (RLT) is a non-invasive procedure that exposes the skin to safe levels of red light as a way to improve its look, for example, reducing the signs of aging or the appearance of acne. Also referred to as photo bio modulation or low-level light therapy, RLT is non-ionizing and safe compared to tanning beds or sun exposure, though some providers may refer to it as cold laser therapy, soft laser therapy, or bio stimulation.
RED LIGHT WELLNESS
How Does Red Light Therapy Work?
Mitochondria in the cells absorb the light at specific wavelengths, which increases cellular energy and promotes healing responses such as collagen production and reduction of inflammation, according to researchers at the Cleveland Clinic. There is currently no definitive scientific consensus on the mechanism, but the following effects have been reported

Skin Rejuvenation
Helps promote collagen production and improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity for a healthier, youthful glow.

Pain & Inflammation Relief
May help reduce discomfort, soreness, and infiammation by supporting the body's natural healing process.

Faster Recovery
Supports muscle recovery and reduces post-workout soreness so you can get back to feeling your best, sooner.

Increased Energy
Boosts cellular energy (ATP) production to help you feel more energized and ready to take on your day.

Better Sleep
Supports healthy circadian rhythms and promotes deeper, more restful sleep naturally.

Overall Wellness
Supports immune function, reduces oxidative stress, and promotes whole-body wellness from within.
What Can Red Light Therapy Help With?
The scientific evidence for the benefits of RLT is strongest for the improvement of signs of aging, skin lesions, acne and scars, and wound healing, while the evidence for the majority of other conditions is weak or nonexistent. All procedures are still considered to be investigative.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Most patients are recommended to undergo multiple RLT sessions spaced out over weeks or months, with possible follow-up treatments as needed. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a typical course consists of 1-3 treatments per week for weeks or months at a time with possible retreatments after that. A single session will rarely be sufficient, and you should think of RLT in the same vein as a fitness program regular treatments will accelerate your results.
